Albany, NY – August 8, 2012 –The humorously unique electro-folk band DAN AND RACHEL will make its Capital Region premiere on Saturday, August 25 at Capital Repertory Theatre, 111 N. Pearl St, Albany. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
Dan and Rachel– a husband and wife duo – pack a wild song collection that ranges from loud dance beats to soft folk tunes, from hilarious commentaries to old-school love songs. Their live performances run the gamut of human emotion, with songs about bananas, love, social ills and zombies, of course.
According to Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill, Capital Rep’s Producing Artistic Director, “We are pleased to have the opportunity to make our performance space available for this talented duo. Dan made his Capital Rep debut in our 1997 production of To Kill A Mockingbird as “Jem.” Since then, he has become a world-travelled musician. We love it when Capital Region youth who have grown up with Capital Rep do so well and it just seemed right to provide the stage for the debut of Dan and Rachel.
Since 2009, Dan and Rachel have toured to internationally renowned venues in 20 different countries. They also produced their first full-length album, “Damn Monsters!” in 2011. Recorded in an old church in Brooklyn, “Damn Monsters” is a louder, synth-laden extension of their original anti-folk art-rock music.
Dan and Rachelare taking a break from recording their second album, a group of songs about the Bushwick Book Club, to visit Capital Rep for one exciting night of theatrical songs and stories.
