C.A.S.T @ theREP

The Cultivating Arts & Students Together (C.A.S.T.) programs at theRep pairs youth (Grades 9 and Up or to age 19) with volunteers.

C.A.S.T. members participate in a training session and volunteer during several performances during the Proctors/theREP/UPH season. The CAST program gives high school students, grades 9-12, the opportunity to fulfill community service credits while being close to the best shows the Capital Region has to offer at the region’s premiere regional professional theatres: Proctors, theREP and UPH. Help house management, welcome patrons and have an opportunity to go to the show! Spaces fill up quickly, so be sure to encourage students to submit their applications early. C.A.S.T. members participate in a two-hour training session in the fall. Participants will meet members of Proctors/theREP/UPH staff, learn about the role of the House Manager, Production Manager, stage crew and more. They will go on a backstage tour of the theatre to learn about its history, what happens to prepare for and during performances. They will meet some of the key volunteers, learn about the various volunteer positions and learn about what they will be doing on show nights.

Performance night

C.A.S.T. volunteers are responsible for scanning tickets at the doors for our live performances. Students may then stay and watch the performance or are permitted to leave following scanning.

Parental / guardian involvement

It is our goal to keep parents informed of assignments and schedule changes. Therefore, a parent or guardian must accompany the C.A.S.T. student to the annual meeting at the beginning of each season. Parents/Guardians are also expected to pick their student up at the pre-arranged time and must come inside the building to get their student. Alternatively, there is a waiver that can be signed allowing the student to leave the premises without a parent/guardian. Additional information will be provided at the pre-season meeting.
