Vision

“This is the dream. We have worked towards this goal for so long. Being under our own roof, and one of our own design, will allow us to better serve our community, to better engage with our patrons and our friends nearby, and to truly be an arts center for the 21st century.”—Capital Repertory Theatre Producing Artistic Director Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill

In 2017, theREP, through the generosity of its board, purchased a historic building, known as the National Biscuit Co. building, in Albany, at 251 North Pearl Street.
In this space, theREP will construct:
300-seat MainStage theatre
70-seat block box theatre

Community event space

This would allow for:
• State of the art lighting, sound and climate control
• Improved sight lines
• Premium comfort seating
• Expanded café, lobby and restrooms
• More programming and special events

This project will:
• Create 47 permanent jobs (according to the Capital District Regional Planning Commission Economic Impact Analysis) and 70 temporary jobs
• Attract an additional 10,000 patrons annually
• Generate $150,000 in revenue and cost savings to support theREP’s education programs and community mission
• Add space to expand education offerings and build new educational programs
• Allow theREP to expand its programming, with up to 100 more annual events
• Have an $11 million impact on the Albany County economy
• Expand the Albany Ambassadors Program in association with the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless
